I've started messing around with VuMarks and thought it was pretty strange that there isn't an option for cloud recognition. Seems with the API to generate new VuMarks it would be very beneficial to have the VuMarks attached to a database, cloud recognizable.
It would open the door for apps in which clients can create their own unique experiences using a generated VuMark. Would be pretty neat.
Are there any plans for VuMark integration into cloud recognition?
Would you be able to provide some information on what you are trying to achieve with VuMarks + Cloud Reco that you cannot currently do with Vuforia?
Once you have your VuMark template uploaded to the target manager and imported into your app, you can use the VuMark generation APIs to create VuMark instances on the fly. You can then attach and publish content against this new, generated VuMark ID and it can be detected by the device database containing the template.
Is this the sort of functionality you are looking for?
So, let me see if I understand.
My concern is creating new VuMark targets after an application is published.
If I use the VuMark Generation API and create an additional VuMark for an app that is already on the market, the app will be able to identify the new VuMark without repackaging and republishing?
That is correct. You can generate and use a new instance of you VuMark for an app that is published without needing any repackaging or republishing. If you wanted to use an entirely different VuMark (new design and database), you would need to update your app however.
