VuMark recognition

I am familiar with using frame markers and I have some questions about changing over to VuMarks. I am developing an app that will be used by children, so I want to understand the privacy implications of switching.

It is my understanding that frame marker recognition takes place completely on the device. Additionally, with frame markers it appears that the only time an app communicates with Vuforia servers is when it verifies the license and transmits device stats at start-up. How is this process different for VuMarks? How often does the application communicate with Vuforia servers when using VuMarks? Are any images from the camera transmitted to Vuforia?
