Hey there,
I am currently trying to set up the Vuforia sample app on the Hololens but fail to do so. I have tried it by uploading the MortonTuxedos.svg as provided by the Vumark Designer Example to my own database and adding this database to the sample scene. That has not worked, though. Now I am trying to find out if the problem is on the hololens or on the Vumark side. For this I would like to use the sample app as I am supposed to. I would need the Vuforia Instance samples that got mentioned in a few other, slightly older threads . I can't seem to find them in the core samples folder though. Could it be that they've been thrown out in a newer version? Or am I searching in the wrong places?
Hello,
Hello,
I don't believe we packaged instances of the Morton's VuMark with the sample app or VuMark Design Tool. However, as you've already successfully uploaded the SVG to the Target Manager, you can now create your own VuMark instances via the Target Manager:
Thanks for the answer. I got
Thanks for the answer. I got that far already, though.
Hello,
Hello,
Thanks for the detailed response. You didn't mention how you generated the VuMark instances, but I will assume that you used the Target Manager and printed them to the correct size and scale.
Did you follow these steps, as well?
Hi - isn't this the same
Hi - isn't this the same thing that I encountered? VuMarks are not interactive as they can only display the digital code as a string or number. Their original intent is to transfer data. You would think that they would generate an AR or Mixed Reality experience but they do not.
Hololens still doesn't
Hololens still doesn't recognize a thing, it's frustrating :( Wanna bet its a small thing I am overlooking?
@augusty84 Vumarks can generate an AR experience indirectly. You can get their IDs and with these IDs you can do different things. You have to code them though.
Hello @augusty84,
Hello @augusty84,
A VuMark is just another type of an Object Target. All Object Targets return a 6DOF pose, so you can combine both the instance recognition aspects of a VuMark (i.e. decoding the bits) and a registered AR experience.
Hi Medabit - I am back on
Hi Medabit - I am back on that project, so let's see if I can get this to work.
@medabit,
@medabit,
thanks for your continued support. Does "It uses Vumark instances that are distributed with our sample app" mean that there are indeed sample instances? Or am I misunderstanding something? Because I am trying to find these sample instances to see if they do work.
Hello @DieboldNixdorf2017,
Hello @DieboldNixdorf2017,
Admittedly, the prepackaged VuMark instances are a bit hard to difficult to locate in the Unity core samples: https://developer.vuforia.com/downloads/samples
