What is the Plan & Licenses tab?
The Plan & Licenses tab is a web tool on the developer portal that allows you to create and manage Vuforia Engine licenses.
What is a license key?
A license key is an alpha-numeric code that the app must pass to the SDK as a string during SDK initialization. The key determines which features the app can use, such as Model Targets or Area Targets.
How do I get additional licenses?
Basic plans let you generate basic licenses by clicking the Generate Basic License button on the Current Plan page.
Premium and Academic plans let you generate premium licenses by clicking the Generate Basic License button on the Current Plan page. If this option is unavailable, you first need to request a Premium plan.
See the Engine Developer Portal Licenses for more information on generating and managing a license.
NOTE: If you require additional licenses for other plans not listed here, please get in touch with sales via our pricing page.
Can I use the same license key for my app's Android, iOS, and UWP versions?
Yes, you can use the same license key for the same app even if it is deployed on multiple platforms (e.g., Android and iOS). The same license key can also be used across different regions. However, we recommend generating a new license for each app you make.
Can I use the same license key for my app's mobile and digital eyewear versions?
Yes, you can use the same license key for mobile and eyewear devices.
What is the difference between a license and a Cloud Database Add-on?
A Cloud Add-on must be associated with the Cloud Database in the Target Manager tab. Only that way can your Cloud Recognition benefit from the added reco quota.
A Basic or Premium license is used in your application to enable Vuforia Engine features.
What happens to my app when I cancel my license or when my license is suspended?
If you cancel your license or if your license is expired/suspended:
- New users of your app will not be able to access any Vuforia functionality.
- Existing users will not be able to access Cloud Databases.
- Existing installations of apps with Device Databases will continue to function.
NOTE: A canceled license cannot be recovered.
Does my app need to connect to the internet?
No. Your app will work without an internet connection. However, some Vuforia features, such as Cloud Recognition, require some level of internet connection. See Vuforia Engine Data for more details.
Why do I see a watermark?
If your app includes the Vuforia watermark, it indicates that you are using Premium features with a Basic license. To remove the watermark, obtain a Premium license and replace the license key in your app.
