is it possible to play a video on the image target instead of the 3d model ?

I do this using the Mobile Movie Texture from the Unity asset store. It only works with OGV (you can convert videos to this format easily and for free) and without sound.

The plug in comes with documentation and sample scenes. What can't you work out exactly?
