New Release 8.5 Patch (8.5.9) and samples (8.5.10) are available!

Today we’re launching a patch to the Vuforia Engine 8.5 Unity Extension (8.5.9) to include a fix for a linker error seen in Xcode when building Vuforia Engine iOS apps with Unity 2019.3 beta 8 and later. The new version will be made available via Unity’s package manager.

Known issue: Vuforia 7.5.26 does work with .NET scripting backend on UWP in Unity

A regression was introduced with Vuforia SDK 7.5.26 in Unity where using the .NET scripting backend will throw an exception when running a Universal Windows Platform build. This also includes HoloLens apps.

Please use the IL2CPP scripting backend instead, where this issue is not seen. We plan to fix this issue in an upcoming release.

Vuforia 7 HoloLens Samples

Hello all,

The HoloLens samples, both the Image Target and new Model Target samples, are now available at the following link A recent patch for Unity 2017.3 has fixed a bug with HoloLens development, so please use Unity 2017.3.1p1 for working with HoloLens as previous versions will not function correctly.

These samples will also soon be available on the Unity Asset Store along with the rest of the samples.

Updated HoloLens resolution now available

A patch is available for HoloLens performance modes for Vuforia SDK 6.1 and greater. This change updates the "MODE_DEFAULT" camera device/performance mode to use the 896x504 resolution, as recommended by Microsoft for Vuforia computer vision algorithms. Vuforia's testing shows an improvement in detection distances on HoloLens when using this mode. The previous MODE_DEFAULT resolution can still be used by selecting MODE_OPTIMIZE_SPEED (1280X720). MODE_OPTIMIZE_QUALITY (1344x756) remains unchanged.

Display 2d image with Vuforia image target

Following this quick start guide. I am trying to display a 2D image on target image instead of 3D model.

If I drag the 2D image from assets folder onto the Unity scene, it just covers the target image.

Dragging the 2D image on top of ImageTarget object in hierarchy does nothing.

How can I setup a 2D image to display when target image is detected?

This application is intended for Hololens.

Setting Up Unity Settings

I am new to all of this so any help is appreciated.

I am trying to follow the how-to guides both from the Unity and Vuforia sites in order to set up a new Unity project with Vuforia for HoloLens. I am using Unity 2018.4.10f1 and the Vuforia version for Unity 2018.4.

After pasting in the app license key, it says to scroll down in Inspector panel to find Digital Eyewear and ensure Device Type>Digital Eyewear and Device Config>HoloLens.

The problem is that there is no heading with Digital Eyewear. 

Any thoughts?

DllNotFoundException: VuforiaWrapper

with the final goal to deploy a Unity+Vuforia project to the Hololens I try as an intermediate step to build a Windows standalone application. I use Unity 2018.4.11f1, Vuforia 8.5.8 and Visual Studio 2019.

I can compile the Unity project in Visual Studio and run it but the AR camera does not work (I use Razer Kiyo).

Error messages say

XR: OpenVR Error! OpenVR failed initialization with error code VRInitError_Init_PathRegistryNotFound: "Installation path could not be located (110)"! (path not found)
