Update to Vuforia 7 Known Issues

Hello all,

We updated our known issues for Vuforia 7 to include a recently discovered issue related to checking for Ground Plane device compatibility. The issue involves unsupported devices incorrectly returning true when being checked for 6DoF support. This issue is being addressed in a Vuforia 7 patch that will be available in the next few weeks.

Ground Plane pricing

We are developing an app that uses both Image Targets and Ground Plane. We have purchased a license for the Image Target. We have also read in this forum that the Ground Plane functionality can be deployed for free, even in a commercial app. Could you kindly confirm that Ground Plane is free for use since we do not see any details for that in the pricing section.

Ground Plane is detecting ceiling

We've found that ground plane can also detect ceiling, which is what we are trying to prevent from.

Is there anyway to stop detection on ceiling?

PlaneFinder doesn't show up in certain situation

We use iPhone 12 to try out an empty project with the ground plane feature (using unity 2019.3.1 & Vuforia ver.9.4.6) and everything works fine.

However if we use the ground plane in our current work project, the plane finder just doesn't show up most of the time for iPhone12 and strangely it works in Sony Xperia phone without fails.

Making an object fall onto a plane with physics

Now that I have figured out how to use a Plane Finder, I'm wondering if it is possible to have an object fall onto the plane from a height, like in Google's ARCore demos of animals -- they seem to settle onto the plane from above.

Thinking about it, I suppose the answer would be to pick a point above the plane, and then have them fall first, and then position them to the plane second. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Ground plane switching between AR and non-AR

I am creating an app using Ground Plane detection in Unity. This app will have both and AR section and non-AR section. When the user selects something, it will open the camera and start searching for ground and content will appear. When the user presses on Back, it will stop the camera and will go back to the main menu or regular type of touch interactions.

I want to know what is the best way for switching between these modes, without causing problems or crashes. What method from which script is best to invoke in order to make the switch?

My 3D object appear so tiny..

I've made an AR Ground Plane in unity .. I made sure everything I did is done correctly as I have previously made some AR scenes..


but now I tried adding a 3d object "plane" and I had to rescale it to make it smaller and I put it above the "Ground Plane Stage" and when I build it on my mobile it looks SO TINY ...


is there a way I could make the plane look bigger ? I know it isn't possible to rescale the ground plane stage so please any ideas?

SmartTerrain cannot be initialized when Vuforia Fusion uses the vision-only provider

      I have Unity 2019.4.3f1 and installed Vuforia Engine AR(9.4.6) via Unity Package Manager.


When the application runs on Google pixel 4(Android version 11)and start the ground plane, i get following exception on Android Logcat:

"Smart Terrain cannot be initialized when Vuforia Fusion uses the vision-only provider"


I understand that Google pixel 4 is not available in Vuforia supported devices list. But google pixel 4 has AR core support. I dont know why i'm not able to initialize ground plane(smart terrain).

ground plane with environmental occlusion

ARFoundation supports it now. I want to be able to place objects on the ground and have real objects occlude it. I am aware of Vuforia's Area Target, but scanning the environment beforehand is not an option. Thank you for your time.
