New to Model Targets? Check out our new how-to video!

April 8, 2020 - 10:18am #1

Hello Vuforia developers!

Model Targets is one of our most powerful AR features that use the 3D model of an object for robust tracking. To help developers be successful with this feature our team produced a "How to Create Model Targets" video.

If you're new to Vuforia's Model Targets feature, please watch the step-by-step process and learn some useful tips for optimizing, recognizing and tracking your 3D models.

Good luck and thank you for your interest in Vuforia!

Dynamically Loading and Activating Datasets

March 5, 2018 - 2:41pm #1

Hello all,

With the launch of Model Targets and its restriction of only a single Model Target dataset being activated at a time, we have seen an increase in the number of questions related to loading and activating datasets programmatically.

Multiple Model targets to one Model Target

November 17, 2021 - 7:37am #1

Hello everyone,

I just found out that it is not possible to track several model targets at the same time. In my Unity project we have a big problem that we have over 2000 models which need AR content. It is too much work to edit every single one. So the idea was to split them up in 4 different components (e.g. arms, legs, body, head), each of them with different variations (long body, short body, ...). The idea was just to download the necessary parts (e.g. short arms, long legs, round body and red head) and make each of them so a single model target.

November 10, 2021 - 4:55am #1

I'm trying to create a new ModelTarget in a script. It is a basic Monobehaviour script and i would like to add a new ModelTarget in the start methode.

So i use following line of Code:

ModelTargetBehaviour modelTarget = VuforiaBehaviour.Instance.ObserverFactory.CreateModelTarget(Application.streamingAssetsPath + "/Vuforia/VuforiaMars_ModelTarget.xml", "VuforiaMars_ModelTarget");

As soon as i start the application e get the following runtime error:

iOS Memory Leak

SDK 10.0
November 5, 2021 - 3:11am #1

Hi there,

I've had several issues with building for iOS, and it loooks like a memory leak i'm having a very hard time tracking down (first i thought it was our model target that was too complex), so i decided to start a new project and run the core samples, which crashed due to memory leaking when loading the model targets scene.

However, if opening another scene first, like the image targets, and then going back and opening model targets scene, it almost always loads without issues.

How to change the dataset / activate another model target in runtime?

SDK 10.0
October 27, 2021 - 11:03pm #1

Unity: 2020

Vuforia: 10.2

I have prepared three Model Targets for tracking and I would like to track one by one in runtime. I had already applied the Vuforia Core Sample, but I still don't know the application of those functions. Therefore, how can I change the dataset in runtime?

Thank You!

Need Support for Vuforia Model target through HoloLens 2

SDK 10.0
October 27, 2021 - 2:14am #1

Good Morning Sir/ madam,

I Kunal, student of Politecnico di Milano, currently doing thesis project on Mixed reality by using Vuforia Unity engine through Microsoft HoloLens 2.

I have few questions related to interacting with the object,

1. I have deployed the object in HoloLens through Visual Studio, where the object is tracked, but I'm unable to drag n drop the object (stretching the size or decreasing it).

2. When i move the object wearing HoloLens, the projected object is at the constant place which it is not tracking when moving it.

Activate script when model is detected

SDK 10.0
October 24, 2021 - 2:10pm #1

I would like to activate some functions in a script when a model target is "detected". I've been reading online that On Target Found () should be used but I've never found a complete tutorial or guide to follow from A to Z.

Can someone help me with this Issue?

Thanks in advance

Model target with small objects

October 4, 2021 - 4:44am #1

Hi there,

Here are some questions about the accuracy of Model Target.

How well does Model Target handle small objects such as USB connector or sockets on an electronic device?

Say we have hundreds types of connectors smaller than a quarter dollar, is Model Target capable of recognizing that?

If yes, what are the critical criterias to accomplish it?

Any response is appreciated
