Artec Area Target

Is it possible to use an Artec Eva scanner to make an area target? It can export as e57, I just keep getting a "validation of the e57 file failed" error. If not, are there plans to support this in future?

Hi,

I checked with the R&D team and my initial statement was wrong.

Altough we support the e57 standard each company has a different implementation of it.

Vuforia Area Targets supports scans made with:

ARKit enabled devices with inbuilt LiDAR sensor - Ipad Pro with Lidar

Matterport™ Pro2 3D camera,

NavVis M6 and VLX scanners, and

Leica BLK360 and RTC360 scanners.

E57 processing: Validation of the E57 file failed. Check the validation report for details.

[ SUCCESS ] E57 shall contain one or more Data3D structures.

[   FAIL  ] 'cartesianBounds' field in Data3D structure shall be defined.

[   FAIL  ] 'colorLimits' field in Data3D structure shall be defined.

[ SUCCESS ] 'cartesianX', 'cartesianY', 'cartesianZ' fields in PointRecord structure shall be defined.

[   FAIL  ] 'colorRed', 'colorGreen', 'colorBlue' fields in PointRecord structure shall be defined.

[ SUCCESS ] 'nor:normalX', 'nor:normalY', 'nor:normalZ' fields in PointRecord structure shall be defined or we need to be able to estimate the normals. To estimate normals each Data3D structure shall have associated images from exactly one scanning position through Image2D associatedData3DGuid field.

[ SUCCESS ] 'isColorInvalid' field in PointRecord structure must not be defined.

[ SUCCESS ] E57 shall contain one or more Image2D structures that have either 'sphericalRepresentation' field or 'pinholeRepresentation' field.

[ SUCCESS ] 'pose' field in Image2D structure shall be defined.

[   FAIL  ] Spherical images shall have minimal resolution of 4096x2048 and their width = 2 * height. Pinhole images shall have minimal resolution of 1024x1024 and must be square (width = height).

 

It's just a corner, not an entire room, if that makes any difference. I'm new to using both the scanner and Vuforia so I might be missing something very simple in post processing.

We support the e57 format, so technically the scanner does not matter in the end. T

Could you please provide us the entire output when it failes to validated?

EDIT: This statment was inaccurate, altough we support the e57 standard the implementations by scanner companies can be very different and we also have certain data requirements that need to be taken into consideration. See above, in the recent post the devices we support.
