Why does the Samsung Galaxy S8 not show up in the Vuforia list of ARCore supported devices? According to Google's list it should be supported.

You are saying "Vuforia 7.2.24" but in the release notes of version 7.2.23 it is stated the ARCore support is enabled again for S8/S9.

But still on my Samsung S8 when i check with GetActiveFusionProviders() i get the response "VUFORIA_SENSOR_FUSION". Even with the Vuforia Groundplane example app in Unity.

So is it solved in 7.2.24 or isn't it solved yet the enabling of ARCORE?

Nevermind. Just found out that 7.3 is not in line with official releases. Sorry.

Is this really fixed?

I'm using Vuforia 7.3.10 with Unity 2018.2.5f1 and ARCore 1.4.0 on Samsung S8 and camera feed quality is horrible. 

Additionally, I can't find VuforiaRuntimeUtilities.GetActiveFusionProvider() anymore in this Vuforia version.


Please, assist.

ARCore support was re-enabled in 7.2.24. Vuforia VIO support was never interrupted in the 7.2.X series.

What is your device model? Settings->About phone/device->Model number

Hi, is the Samsung S8 supposed to be working now? Even on the latest version 7.2.24, I'm unable to use the horizontal ground plane detection mode on the S8

Thanks for pointing this out. There is a discrepancy in our documentation that I will work to resolve.

The short answer is that for our 7.2.20 SDK release, we had to disable ARCore support on the Snapdragon variants of the S8/S8+/S9/S9+ due to a performance bottleneck in how camera frames are delivered. We believe that we've resolved this issue in an upcoming 7.2 patch release.

Note that there can be fluidity in Fusion supported devices as ARCore continues to mature. We hope that this will settle out over time, but I recommend that you use new APIs introduced in 7.2 to determine if Vuforia is using a Fusion provider, or our internal tech:

For C++: getActiveFusionProvider()

For Unity: VuforiaRuntimeUtilities.GetActiveFusionProvider()
