Commercial use of modified Vuforia sample code

May 31, 2013 - 11:08am #1

Could you please advise if I can modify any Vuforia sample code, remove or change logos of Qualcom/Vuforia and change any interface, then I can let users to download the modified sample code such as the Cloud Recognition app.

I already read the license agreement but still not sure if I can modified the sample code and provide it to my users to download it through the Web for their use.

Thanks for your clarification in advance.

You can certainly distribute commercial apps using Vuforia. Read through the SDK license, to see what obligations that entails. You'll specifically want to review section 8 as that defines a few statements that you'll need to incorporate into your EULA to the user. There are also restrictions on distributing developer tools that use Vuforia.

It would be a good idea to check out some other commercial Vuforia apps in the apps stores, to see how they present their EULA.

Ok let's forget about the sample code.

How I can integrate the Cloud Recognition database with my Android app to start recognizing Targets?

I would like to develop this integration in a simple way.

Thanks.

You shouldn't redistribute the sample code, even with modifications, nor alter or remove Vuforia logos. If you'd like to distribute a sample that relies on one of the Vuforia samples, you'll need to have the end user download the Vuforia sample from the Vuforia Developer Portal and distribute your original code separately.
